Is There Money in Your Garbage Dumpster?

The City of Redmond is launching a new program bringing a sweet deal to businesses in Redmond. For a limited time, Redmond businesses that sign up for free recycling and waste reduction assistance will receive up to two dozen donuts to enjoy while getting help from a recycling expert. It’s called, “Dollars to Donuts” and the program will educate businesses about advantages available to save money and keep Redmond green.

Redmond businesses get recycling collection service at no additional charge
In the City of Redmond, Waste Management commercial garbage customers can get a recycling dumpster up to 150% larger than the size of their garbage dumpster for no additional cost. For example, a business with a 2 yard garbage dumpster collected once per week can add a 3 yard recycling dumpster collected once per week at no additional charge. The garbage bill is based on the size of the garbage dumpster. Most businesses are able to decrease the size of their garbage dumpster once they increase their recycling.

"There could be free money in your garbage dumpster," remarked Stacey Auer, Recycling Program Administrator for the City of Redmond. "When a business starts recycling everything they can, they are often able to downsize their garbage dumpster, which in turn downsizes the monthly bill."

You don’t have to sort your recycling! Recyclables, including cardboard, mixed paper, aluminum, glass, milk cartons, plastic bottles, jugs & tubs can all be mixed together into one recycling container.
